New measures for a common approach to protect Europe's External Borders adopted today: the package includes in particular a proposal for the establishment of a European Border and Coast Guard and a proposal for a targeted revision of the Schengen Borders Code. The proposal for a European Border and Coast Guard aims at ensuring a strong and shared management of the External Borders, while the revision of the Schengen Borders Code introduces systematic checks against relevant databases for all people entering or exiting the Schengen area.
